Mario's Galactic Adventure Teaser Is Here, Revealing Fresh Faces Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Actors
Nintendo alongside Illumination released the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie midweek. It was showcased in a Nintendo-focused broadcast that centered on the soon-to-release cartoon movie.
Following up on the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will propel Mario to the outer limits of the cosmos. In his journey, he meets a different royal figure and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.
A Space-Faring Quest Drawing from Classic Games
In the vein of the Wii console classics that provide its foundation, Mario will leave behind the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to travel across the galaxy. Throughout his extensive trek, he will reunite with some well-known personalities, for instance the Luma, a fan favorite from the previous film.
However, it seems Mario and his sibling Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's furious offspring, who seemingly utilizes powers related to metal. Interestingly, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also features references to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Celebrity Voice Actors Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers
The movie will feature once again of the primary vocal talent, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will bring to life Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to play Bowser Jr. The casting was verified by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.
Mario's Major Moment
The new Mario movie is scheduled to arrive close to the 40th anniversary of the first Super Mario Bros. title. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 is shaping up to be a major period for Mario and his allies.
The company has a trio of new releases already confirmed for the upcoming year, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Release Date Confirmed
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
