Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a colorful mix of heroes, and a gripping narrative showcasing celestial beings, demons, and malevolent powers expanding in power within the urban setting.
Note: Key plot points for the latest installment of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
Episode 3 ended with a major cliffhanger and introduced the first table of heroes who will split off from the main group to begin their independent quest, separate from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team features Teor (brought to life by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
With a large ensemble, it was obvious from the beginning that maintaining everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the initial installments of this story serve as an Introduction, connecting the individual narratives before splitting into three smaller tables: Fighters, Planners, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
As described by the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for players who prefer a traditionally charged battle-oriented gameplay experience where non-violent answers are rare.
At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might seem mismatched, but the developments of episode 3 demonstrate why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the group knows exactly where to head next after a intense opening clash with the enemy group.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose passing started the narrative’s action—exploited The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, invading the hidden lair, assaulting Thimble, and stealing all the powerful objects to sell off.
Casimir then settled his debts and ran away to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, north of Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each character has a individual motive to depart the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the companion and trusted friend, desires revenge.
- Kattigan has experience in Timmony and cautions that it is a dangerous environment.
- The warrior and Wicander, having resisted his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their position as important members in the powerful family could assist the team reach areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, The fighter swore a life debt to Wicander for his rescue and will now go with him wherever.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are wanted by the powers that rule the city for a multiple motives, making staying in the city dangerous:
- The rogue and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and Wicander defied House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by the family.
This results in them little choice but to travel to the remote area in quest for Casimir.
